Fixed Mindset article

From reading this article, what I learned is that there is two types of mindsets that you can adopt. One is called a fixed mindset. A fixed mindset is when you believe that you just rely on the ability that you have and that the ability or even intelligence can not be improved upon. In the article it says that this mindset is usually adopted when you are younger, by constant praise and no failure to bounce back to learn from. This in turn leads to that specific person thinking that they are great at whatever they do and just bad at whatever they do and in return this person will think that no matter how much they improve they will be the same.

The other mindset opposite to the one mentioned beforehand. This mindset is when you believe that you can improve on anything if you give it the time and focus. This can be truly anything from intelligence to skills in any area. This mindset also encourages you to make mistakes and learn from them and push you out of comfort zone. This mindset is said to be good to adopt in a workplace, as it encourages staff to push other staff to learn from their mistakes.

Thoughts:

In my opinion I think that this mindset is the wrong mindset to have because. If you just believe that you can never improve as a person you will stay where you have when you started, although I do think that everyone has some level of ability starting off I do not think that is the end all and be all. I also found it interesting how doctors have to face the fact the fact that they will make mistakes and some of them big mistakes, but they will have to grow from it so they don't make the same mistake over and over again. If doctors can take this advice, I think we all should. Sometimes I think sometimes the fixed mindset isn't intentional but it just creeps into your mind when you want to do or start something new. That being said you have to catch yourself when it comes to mind.

Why rejection hurts so much?

This article is about rejection and how we as people react to rejection and what is the best to deal with rejection. The article starts with how rejection these days can be broadcasted for more eyes to view as we are in the age of social media is prominent. In the article it talks about rejection triggers the same reaction in the brain as physical would proven by the scientist. Our brain is wired this way due to our ancestors not wanting to be left out of the tribe as hunter gathers and this has trickled down to this generation of people and the most damage rejection causes is self inflicting.

Thoughts:

I think that everyone will experience rejection in life and I feel the best way is not to take it personal, but take it as a way to learn from. You might get rejection now but in time and some review and feedback you can improve and maybe the next time you can improve and hopefully not get rejected later on in life. One thing I might try if I get rejected is take a list of the flaws that went wrong with in that specific thing I got rejected on and see if I can improve, but ill also take a list of all the things that makes me valuable so I wont get too upset with the rejection.
